Traditions contribute a sense of belonging and re-enforce values such as freedom, integrity, a good education, a strong work ethics and the value of being selfless. They are embedded treasures that I carefully used and integrated throughout my creative journey. During my early years, I lived in a country that embraced and celebrated a mosaic of influences of many different civilizations of the old world, with a long and rich heritage. All that made an impact on my work and inspired me greatly adding to that the many journeys that I’ve been to - to the Arab and Muslim countries. The journey included historic monuments and ruins, in which I started taking notes, examining links between culture differences and comparisons. Such as (Andalusia ) ( Spain ), Persia, Turkey, Morocco amongst other countries. I’ve often visited the old traditional souks, the old dyeing shops the handcrafts workshops, pottery studios, wood crafts and carpentry studios. All that and more have added treasures and experience that kept me going, growing and creating with joy. Specifically some crafts that were passed on through generations with great deal of spontaneity and details. I learned from Islamic traditions the strong aesthetic appeal that transcended time and space, the remarkable coherence and the decorative detailed work of art. View more posts
